Tourism Victoria Hours

This past Saturday, as part of the Fourth Italian Conference on Tourism Riva del Garda, the neo-Secretary Michela Vittoria Brambilla has launched a proposal on the classification of the hotels Italian.

As you all know, the theme is attributable Regional. This, beyond some common standards, involves the non-homogeneity of the award criteria and, therefore, different results with respect to the quality expectations of our customers. He spoke very extensively his friend Luke in his blog just recently.

Michela Vittoria Brambilla has proposed the development of a set of minimum requirements category and a self-certification of the hotel facilities with regard to the quality of services offered.

Now, as always in Italy, this proposal met with mixed reactions from experts: there are those who believe the brilliant idea termination and those who believe the worst of misfortunes.

I have two comments to make about it.

First, it is the first time in years, there is a concrete proposal on the table and not the usual complaining about the situation. The first time you try to escape the spiral of a problem that is always on the table, but which are lacking concrete initiatives. And that the hotel industry has a great need, to offer peace and credibility to its customers.

Second, some stigmatize the issue of self-certification as an approach too naive. Perhaps it is. But not that much, in my opinion. It would be up to 10 or even a few years ago. Years in which, in the case of poor quality, you could vent with only a small circle of friends and acquaintances. Not now. Now there is the Great Internet Network "forces" to tell the truth. If I sold a gorgeous room "sea view" in the brochure the hotel and, in reality, I find myself sleeping in a hole "view of the highway pylon" I now have a huge amount of ways to make it known to the whole world at of clicks.

So I think that this proposal merits further investigation.

And, in general, once more the theme Technology and organizational processes. Also in this field, as I wrote yesterday, we need to change the cultural and organizational approach of our companies to deal with the network as effectively as possible.

Vancouver to Victoria Ferry

The boy and I will be visiting Vancouver from the 22nd through 25th. We want to take the ferry over to Victoria one day. The Vanouver tourism official site says it's a four hour trip one-way, while the Ferry site says it's 1 1/2 hours. Any clue on the descrepancy?
Also, how neccessary is a car in Victoria? Should we bring along our rental car or leave it behind?
Thanks!
