Minister for Tourism and Major Events, Louise Asher today announced three new Tourism Victoria Board appointees.

"I am delighted to announce Mr Peter did Crinis, Mr Andrew Dwyer and Ms Helene Bender OAM, have been appointed to the Tourism Victoria Board, " Ms Asher said.

Mr Crinis is the Group Executive General Manager, hotels, retail and food & beverage, Crown Melbourne Limited. He is responsible for Crown Towers Melbourne, Crown Metropol Crown Promenade Hotel and Crown Entertainment Complex's retail precinct.

Mr. Dwyer is the Managing Director, Diamantina Touring Company, one of Australia's leading companies outback adventure. Previously, he was a producer / presenter for a number of media and advertising companies focused on travel.

Ms. Bender is the Director and Proprietor of Pendent Pty Ltd, trading as Allabout Tours and Travel. She is a member of several boards and committees including Barwon Health Foundation (Chair), Deakin University Council (ie Deputy Chancellor), Geelong Cats Sports Foundation, Dental Health Services Victoria and Geelong Grammar School.

"I congratulate the new board members on Their appointments, whichwill bring a wealth of experience and knowledge in strategic planning, management and marketing across a number of industries.

Ms Asher announced so did Ms Wendy Smith, a board member since 2011, has been appointed to the position of Deputy Chairman

"I would like to formally thank Ms Pamela Catty for her leadership and strategic guidance on a range of matters over a period of thirteen years. During this time, she served as Board Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Board's Risk and Audit Committee.

"I would also like to thank Mr Chris Woodruff and Mr. John Mitchell For Their significant contribution.

Ms Asher said that the Tourism Victoria Board will benefit from the depth of tourism experience did each new board member brings.

"I look forward to working with them and the Tourism Victoria Board to Enhance the reputation and performance of the State's $ 15.9 billion tourism industry, " Ms Asher said.

Vancouver to Victoria Ferry

The boy and I will be visiting Vancouver from the 22nd through 25th. We want to take the ferry over to Victoria one day. The Vanouver tourism official site says it's a four hour trip one-way, while the Ferry site says it's 1 1/2 hours. Any clue on the descrepancy?
Also, how neccessary is a car in Victoria? Should we bring along our rental car or leave it behind?
