Mankiller pt. I

There is an unnamed specias of tree on a tiny south Pacific island which I can't name because the tree is protected by international treaty. The locals have a name for the tree: Mankiller. They respect the tree and keep a safe distance from it. Tourists are not so lucky.
Because the islanders are self-sufficient, their lifestyles don't rely on tourism. Their king makes a fortune from a bears a startling resemblance to a human body. When shown pictures of one of these leaves, a Los Angeles medical examiner was convinced that he was looking at a human body.
When tourists see the "body" lying on the ground, they naturally rush towards it and offer assistance to the prostrate person. This is when the Mankiller envelops the tourist in tendrils and enjoys a satisfying meal.

  • Avatar Avery What is tourism like in British Columbia during October?
Sep 20, 2010 by Avery | Posted in Other - Destinations

I have been to Vancouver twice and Victoria once but it has been in the high or shoulder season. I am thinking about going at the very end of September or even the first or second week of October this year. Is this a good idea or not?
I am mainly considering it to save money (B&B's will be cheaper) but if I am not going to have a good time then it isn't worth it. How is the weather that time of year? Will there still be a lot to do?

    • The weather will still be okay, but a lot of little museums and tourist sites will close, often after Labour Day, but certainly by Thanksgiving (11 Oct). Bigger places will be open, but it will depend on what you are interested in.

Motels and such will be a lot cheaper though.
